Description

This meeting will be the eighth edition of the courses about Banach spaces organised by the Universidad de Cantabria. They previously took place in the years 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2008 and 2010. The proceedings of two of those editions were published in the journal Extracta Mathematicæ (vol. 17.3, 2002, and vol. 19.1, 2004).

As in previous editions, the course is aimed at postgraduate students or doctors in Mathematics interested in mathematical analysis techniques.

The meeting will be held in Castro Urdiales, a town located in the west of Cantabria (a region in the North of Spain). The meeting will take place in the Centro Internacional de Estudios Matemáticos (CIEM), a center devoted to the promotion of mathematical research run by the Universidad de Cantabria in Castro Urdiales.

The main subject of the meeting will be the use of set-theoretic and combinatorics techniques in the study of Banach spaces. The meeting will consist of six short courses (2–3 hours each) delivered by the main speakers. Additionally, attendants will be able to deliver a short (20–30 minutes) communication during the meeting.
