Applied Algebraic Topology is a new mathematical discipline studying problems of algebraic topology relevant to diverse applications in engineering and computer science. In broad terms, the scope of Applied Algebraic Topology currently includes, but is not restricted to, Topological Robotics, Stochastic topology, Topology of sensor networks, as well as Topological methods in combinatorics and in discrete mathematics.

All these new research areas will be covered by the “Workshop on Applied Algebraic Topology”, a CIEM event which will take place during the days June 30 – July 5, 2014, and will be devoted to the presentation of the latest achievements on the covered topics. We plan to schedule 5 one-hour lectures daily for a total of 25 lectures. These will be given by carefully chosen invited leading experts on the main subjects of the event.
