The international conferences on the Anthropological Theory of the Didactic
The Anthropological Theory of the Didactic (ATD) currently plays a prominent role in international research on didactics. Four international conferences have been held on this subject so far. The first one was held in Baeza (Spain) in October 2005 (http://www4.ujaen.es/~aestepa/TAD/), the second in Uzès (France) in November 2007 (http://www4.ujaen.es/~aestepa/TAD_II/Objetivos.htm), the third in Sant Hilari Sacalm (Spain) in January 2010 (http://www.matedu.cinvestav.mx/eventos/eventos10.php) nd the fourth in Toulose (France) in April 2013 (http://citad4.sciencesconf.org/).
Like the preceding conferences, this conference brings together researchers interested in the framework of the ATD and aims at the following objectives:
- Establishing an updated overview of the results and progress of the ATD, concerning both basic research and the development of education and teacher training systems.

Developing a research programme around the most relevant open problems, either related to difficulties affecting education systems or the development of didactics as a scientific discipline.
- Identifying and studying the specific problems raised by the extension of the ATD’s conceptual and methodological tools to other fields.

Teachers and researchers of any discipline.
Conference Languages
English, French and Spanish
Given the plain fact that most scholars today are at least to some extent able to understand English, we encourage those who can to write and present their communications in English. At the same time, we continue the tradition of previous conferences in being also open to communications and papers in two other major languages, namely Spanish and French. The organisers will make every effort to ensure that this international, trilingual set-up becomes an enriching and worthwhile experience for all participants.

The scientific activities of the conference
Axis 1. The ATD and its relation to other approaches in didactics
This traditional axis aims at locating the contributions and current trends of the ATD within the "continent of the Didactics", both nationally and internationally. It calls for an open and dynamic assessment of recent experiences and different research perspectives in several disciplinary domains. This axis particularly encompasses work that shows how the ATD enables dealing with and modelling other approaches in didactics, analysing the relations between the respective research praxeologies and informing of their proximity and distances.
Axis 2. Praxeological analysis as a tool for didactic analysis and engineering
This second axis deals with the issue of the content of teaching and learning. What needs to be known about this content? This question concerns the researcher, the teacher, the student and even the citizen or professional. As an answer, this axis links questions of a fundamental kind to questions related to professional development: when given a piece of knowledge to be taught and learnt, what would a praxeological (or epistemological) model of reference represent to the researcher? How to determine, build and use such a PMR in the work of didactic analysis and engineering? Where does this piece of knowledge come from? Why has it appeared? Which transformations, reductions, additions, denaturalisations and regenerations has it suffered, why and how? This transpositive questioning has recently been renewed by the need to adapt the traditional ways of disseminating knowledge to the demands of the paradigm of "questioning the world", which is strongly emerging (see axis 3 below).
Axis 3. Questioning the world: progress towards a new paradigm
Axis 3 refers to the still poorly understood change that affects the school study paradigm. It concerns a field of research that has intensively been explored for several years: the study of the historical transition from the classical paradigm based on the consecutive access to previously established knowledge, to an emerging didactic paradigm in which one would ideally start from a question to provide and answer to this question, without any prejudice regarding all the kinds of tools that will need to be studied and used in order to elaborate said answer. In this paradigm of questioning the world, highlighted by the notions of inquiry (of a given question) and study and research courses (SRC), the works of culture do not disappear: they are assigned a more authentic functional role from a praxeological point of view, which requires studying a given work in synergy with other works, with the aim of providing an appropriate answer, although partial, to a question or a set of questions (which then constitute a fragment of the "programme" of the study). Taking into account these considerations, this axis should particularly welcome presentations of works involved in the modelling and critical study, from the ATD, of the notion of inquiry-based teaching and of its local adaptations (such as the "official" notion of démarche d'investigation scientifique in France).
Axis 4. Teacher education facing the challenge of professionalisation: contributions of the ATD
The core of axis 4 is the study of the teaching professions in a school, university or professional setting. This study is based on two main concepts. The first key notion is the notion of profession, providing one includes under this notion the whole set of agents involved in the teaching of all kinds. The second key notion is the problems of the profession, which refers to the difficulties one has to deal with when carrying out the teaching profession or those difficulties identified through the observation and analysis of the conditions and restrictions of said profession. They are recognised by at least part of the profession as problems, that is to say, as objective difficulties (even if they are experienced subjectively), worthy of the collective mobilisation of certain professional resources.
Call for papers. Presentation types
Research intended for presentation at the conference may be submitted in the form of an oral communication concerning at least one of the four axes of the conference. Papers may be written and presented in English, Spanish or French, with English being the encouraged choice if possible. Posters presenting research projects or work in progress regarding at least one of the four axes of the conference will also be accepted. Half a day will be spent on a seminar for doctoral students, in which PhD students working on the ATD will be able to present their research project at a plenary session and debate it with the participants. Proposals of communication
Researchers willing to present any of the three types of communications must follow the directions specified in « Guidelines for the preparation of communications ». Participants who are going to present a poster will receive later on the directions related to the format in which the poster should be sent, as it is the Organization the one that will be in charge of the making of it.
Schedule

Those participants who are going to present some communication should submit it before October 11, 2015 (extended deadline) on the web site: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=icatd2016.
The reception of participants will take place on Tuesday 26 January 2016, from 12h00 in the ICMM. The conference will start on the same day at 16h30 and will be finished on Saturday, 30 January 2016, at 13h30. For further details, see the file, provisional conference schedule .
Inscription fee
Payment of the reduced fee (280 €) should be made, as it is specified in the instructions on the registration request form, no later than November 22, 2015. After that date until January 15, 2016, the registration fee will be 400 €. The registration fee for participants who have applied for and obtained funding for conference attendance is 100 €.
The registration fee includes:
- Participation in all the activities of the conference and collaboration with general expenses (guest lecturers, scholarships, etc);
- The pre-conference proceedings, available to participants in electronic form on the conference website;
- The material presented at the welcome reception;
- The conference proceedings, available to participants in electronic form;
- Lunches on Wednesday, the 27th, Thursday, the 28th, and Friday, the 29th, of January;
- Coffee breaks in the morning and afternoon;
- Social activities (excursion and the gala dinner on Friday, the 29th, of January)
Scholarships
There is the possibility of seeking help or grant to partially cover registration fees and/or accommodation costs. Interested persons should send a short CV and argued request to tadsierra@gmail.com no later than November 15, 2015.
Participants with accepted paper and young researchers will be prioritized.

The ICATD5 conference will start on Tuesday, January 26, at 16:30h and end on Saturday, January 30, at 13:30.

3) Lunch and dinner
Lunches on Wednesday, the 27th, Thursday, the 28th, and Friday, the 29th, and the gala dinner on Friday, the 29th, of January will take place in the Las Rocas Hotel and registration fees include the cost of them.
For the organization to manage the corresponding reservation, if an attendee wants an extra lunch –on Tuesday 26 and/ or Saturday 30- (it will be paid in the hotel) they must indicate that eventuality on the registration request form. If an attendee has any food restriction it must be indicated on the registration request form.
4) Social activities
On Thursday the 28th, an excursion (weather permitting) to Laredo and Santoña -nearby towns- (≈ 20km to Castro) has been organised. A bus will pick up attendees at 9h00 at the Las Rocas Hotel. A 4-km walk along the Playa de la Salvé will start in Laredo. At the end of the walk, in El Puntual, a boat take the attendees to the nearby town of Santoña. Those who are brave enough may continue up Monte Buciero, from where spectacular views of the Cantabrian Sea can be seen. Finally, a bus will pick up the attendees in Santoña, at 13h30, to return to the Las Rocas Hotel.
Attendees are requested to take into account this activity and come equipped with suitable clothing and footwear.
In case of adverse weather conditions, the organization will seek and alternative activity.
On Friday the 29th, a gala dinner will be held at the Las Rocas Hotel. During the dinner, several activities will be organised for helping participants to get to know each other.
5) Accompanying people
The accompanying people may participate in the lunches provided by the Organization (27-28-29 January), the excursion (January, 28) and the gala dinner (January 29), by paying the corresponding supplement. See registration request form.
For the organization to manage the corresponding reservation, if an attendee wants an extra lunch for accompanying people–on Tuesday 26 and/or Saturday 30- (it will be paid in the hotel) they must indicate that eventuality on the registration request form.
