The aim of the event is to bring together the leading experts in the field to discuss current research topics and support the development of this subject in Spain. In particular, we will focus on mentoring opportunities for students and young researchers. We expect the event to have around sixty participants. Topics covered will range over the broad spectrum of subjects tropical geometry touches upon: algebraic geometry, rigid and analytic geometry, arithmetic geometry, topology, computational geometry, commutative algebra, combinatorics, mirror symmetry and applications to statistics and biology.
We plan to edit a volume with articles from the workshop which, tentatively, would be published within the series Contemporary Mathematics of the American Mathematical Society.
